Looking for lower back pain relief or have shoulder pain or mid back pain?

To grasp the reasons and treatments for this discomfort, it's essential to comprehend the structure of these areas. The upper and mid-back encompass the entire thoracic spine and the ribs connecting from the spine to the sternum. This region is complex and unfortunately prone to significant vulnerability.

What are some of the symptoms of mid back pain?

  •     Arm Pain, Numbness, or Tingling: It's important to understand the connection between the lower neck and upper back. Nerves extending into the arm originate from both the lower neck and upper back, forming the brachial plexus. Dysfunction in either area can lead to symptoms radiating into the upper extremity. This often results from conditions like a bulging disc or spinal degeneration in the neck or upper back.

  •    Stabbing Pain in the Chest or Back: The ribs span from the front of the chest to their attachment points along the thoracic spine (excluding the floating ribs). These joints can commonly become subluxated, fixated, or stuck. This often causes intense pain directly over the rib attachment, either in the front, back, or both. Some patients describe it resembling a heart attack due to the sharpness of the chest pain. Breathing deeply or twisting the torso in either direction can exacerbate the discomfort. Typically, this issue resolves with chiropractic adjustments or targeted joint mobilization to free up the affected joint.

  •     Pain and Tightness Between the Shoulder Blades: Persistent pain localized between the shoulder blades, without radiating to the arm or chest, is often due to subluxation or fixation of a thoracic spine joint. These joints can be strained due to the diverse range of movements they endure throughout the day. The thoracic spine bears significant force from both the lower and upper body, increasing the likelihood of joint and back issues.

How can chiropractic help?

Chiropractic treatment targets the joints of the cervical spine, thoracic spine, rib articulations, collar bone, and scapula. Adjustments in these areas aim to release fixations and restore proper joint movement throughout the entire system. Recovery time under chiropractic care varies based on the injury but often provides rapid relief from back pain. Our approach includes various soft tissue therapies alongside adjustments to prevent muscles from aggravating the issue further.
